About us

When Matt & Rob opened The Oystermen in the heart of Covent Garden in 2017 they did so to celebrate all that is good about the British coast; not just oysters, but local crabs, lobster, and a whole host more, surrounding it with fine wine and drinks, while never straying from a core belief in good value and excellent hospitality.

Walter’s is an extension of those passions:

The best of British produce from land and sea, an even more extensive wine list, a huge fully stocked bar, and a commitment to hospitality that is second to none.

Mateusz Gosek

Head chef

Head Chef Mateusz “Matty” Gosek moved from his native Poland to South London aged 17. 

First discovering a love of cooking working under Gary Knowles at Rick Stein’s The Depot in Barnes, South West London, Mateus undertook a course of classical training before embarking on a career that saw him rise to a Head Chef at the Vinoteca group before taking over the responsibility for the fire pit at Sophie’s in Soho.

At Walter’s we always strive to use the very best local produce, meat and finest seafood British waters have to offer. 

Matty’s passion for honest, decent food is reflected in Walter’s offer of an ever rotating, seasonal menu and specials.
